I wanted to let you all know that my short story Forks of Prophecy has been released. It's a thriller/horror short that I think everyone will enjoy. I figured it would be nice to put something out for my favorite holiday.
Here's the blurb
"A vague premonition by a gypsy at the fall fair leaves young Tim scared and alone in a dark forest on the night of a blood moon. Will the gypsy's vision come true or will Tim beat fate and survive a night of terror? Follow Tim on his manic flight to the safety of his father's farm."
So, I hope everyone runs out and buys a copy before halloween, it would be a good scare before taking the kids out trick or treating.
In other news, The Chroma Shift - Assassins' Treaty contest is still underway. Nobody has submitted the correct answer, so buy your copy today and possibly win a $25 gift certificate.
Tiger's Realm has been released in paperback! This is my first official physical book! I'm so excited and can't wait for all of you to read it, Tiger's Realm is probably my best work yet, and I beleive that the concept as well as the plot and the setting are completely unique. How often do you get bored of the same old crap? This is a one-of-a-kind book, so read and enjoy!

Pain and humiliation
Well, it's just my luck. My leg was healing well, a few more months of working out and I might have been well enough to work (Although my physiotherapist kept saying that from day one, so who knows if that's true). Either way, it's not gonna happen now... Coming down the stairs last week, my knee on my good leg gave out (The surgeon had told me about the Crepitis in the knee, but it didn't buckle often, so it shocked me when it did happen)
Of course I put out my other leg to stop the fall, but missed the step (a couple of steps actually) and landed with my leg stretched out, the knee locked. This had the unfortunate effect of jamming everything together in the leg. This in turn fractured my Tibiae Plateau, or in layman's terms, the little ball part where my shin meets the knee. So here I sit, cast on my leg, going into surgery on Friday and hoping it will heal faster than the last one, cause I don't think I can stand being out of work for much longer. Sure, I'm getting some money now from the Insurance company, but not as much as my paycheck would bring.
"But Kevin, you're an author" you might say. Trust me, author's don't make a lot of money...publishers seem to make it by the truck load, but we author's are the same as any other staring artists (Unless you're super famous like Stephen King).
So, money and sanity are my two main reasons for wanting to get better. This couldn't have come at a worse time. With the release of Tiger's Realm, I had all sorts of things planned to promote the novel. If I'm not better by November, I'll have to cancel my book signings, which I was really looking forward to. Tiger's Realm is the best book I've ever written and i really wanted to get out there and let everyone have a chance to buy it. Keep your fingers crossed for me and maybe I'll sign your copy too!
Aside from that, I wanted to add in again that the contest for Assassins' Treaty is still open. We have not received a correct answer, so pick up a copy today and solve the riddle!

Cloud Nine? Really?
Well, the title says it all, I'm on cloud nine and I can't believe it! It's been a wonderful day in my little world.
First, the news about Assassins' Treaty, it's reached number five on the bestsellers list! Woo Hoo! Still no entries for the riddle contest though, I guess I've stumped you all... Hopefully we'll see some action on that front once you've had time to mull it over.
Secondly, as promised, here's the link for my first Magazine article. It's called Propaganda and Popcorn and it's been published in Futureale Magazine, article number 5 on the index. They are a local Toronto Magazine, but having articles available on the world wide web (does anyone use that term anymore?) makes them accessible to anybody! So feel free to go check it out, it's a three page spread and a well written piece of work if I do say so myself.
Finished priming the entryway of the house and even got the first coat of paint on top of that. Managed to hang a new light in the hall as well. I guess I've got some skills as a handyman if the writing thing ever falls apart ;)
It's been a banner day for me, hope yours is going equally well. That's it for now.

Are you up for the challenge?
One week has gone by and still not a single entry in the riddle contest. Is it too difficult of a riddle? Is there nobody out there who can figure it out? I know it's only $25, but come on, it's still free money for answering a little riddle!
I know my readers are smart enough to get the answer, so give it your best guess! You never know, what seems like the obvious answer might very well be the right answer.
In regards to my personal life, not much else is going on, home renovations is about it. The article I wrote about the National Film Board will be in the next edition of Futureale magazine, which will be released within the next couple of days. I'll be sure to post the like as soon as it's up on their website. That aside, there isn't much else to report. I'm anxiously awaiting the new season of Supernatural (airing Friday, September 19th on Space) and Heroes (which is set to air Monday September 22nd on Global I think.)
Alright, that's it, though some interesting stuff is coming up soon, so stay tuned and I'll keep you up to date.

Books are selling but contest still unanswered!
I can't believe it, all the sales of my new novel Chroma Shift - Assassins' Treaty and not one single entry to the riddle contest! I know it's a difficult one to solve, but I had expected some of you would send in a guess or two by now ;)
I guess I made it tougher than I thought. There are a lot of hints in the book, if you just read it through, you'll probably get the right answer.
For those of you who haven't gotten a copy yet, it's obviously not too late to enter the contest and win that $25 gift certificate! You can buy your copy here, and remember the riddle is included with the download, so read it first and keep it in mind as you enjoy the book!

Reading is a lost art :(
You heard me, Reading is a lost art! So many people I talk to just aren't into reading for fun. Sure everyone has to read reports and letters and bills. Why is it that everyone escapes to the TV instead of a good book?
I enjoy television and movies as much as the next guy, but reading has it's rewards as well. I can't imagine giving up any of these pastimes.
If you think I'm wrong, and that reading is alive and well, then you should help me out. Sign up for a free account at Squidoo and join my group! I'll post the link below and in a month, we'll see if I was right or wrong.
Honestly, I'd join just for the pleasure of proving I don't know what I'm talking about.
Here's the link to my group, you can even comment without signing up for an account, so at least give it a peek and post your thoughts!

Riddle Contest is gonna rock!
I am so amazed at how much attention this riddle contest is getting! I first launched the video promo for Assassins' Treaty less than a week ago and have had over a hundred hits so far! I'm as excited as you all are, and I hope you'll find it challenging! I know $25.00 isn't a lot of money, but hey, it's coming out of my own pocket! If this is a big enough success, then you can bet the prizes for the next contest will be even bigger! Still, it seems like it will be a big hit. I know August seems a long way off, but it'll fly by as the summer provides much entertainment and then when it's winding down, you can read through Assassins' Treaty.
For now, you can watch the promo about the novel to pique your curiosity, and learn a little of the contest. Of course, more details will be provided as we get closer to the release date. Keep your eye on my blog, or check out my author's page at Mystic Moon Press (The link is on the left)
'til then, keep reading!
